Heading to northern Me this weekend. Camping/kayaking Fri. /Sat. /Sun. on Lower Jo-Mary Lake.
Mon. and Tues. riding the quad in the Dover-Foxcroft area. Going to ride from Dover to Newport then try to find a way to Moosehead from Dover. My friend knows some riders in the Dover area and I’m sure they will give me some trail info about the area. If anyone out there has any info about this area or places of interest to ride to please post or PM me.
Bob

Had a good time in ME for 5 days. The kayaking, camping and hiking went well. Great views from the lakes to Katahdin.
Mon. I left Dover,on the quad to try to get to Greenville. Got as far as Lowe’s bridge then lost the trail. A local business owner said you can’t get through Guilford and it turns out he is right. I headed for Newport then hooked up with a couple and tried to get to Greenville again but still no go. We put about 100 miles on for the day. They gave me their phone number and want to ride with me on sleds and quads again. I guess you can fool some of the people all the time. They seem to like the old nut job.
On Tues. I unloaded at the Shell gas station,in Guilford, which is the South end of the trail that goes to Greenville.
The Shell Station is only 3 or 4 miles up Rt. 15 from Lowe’s covered bridge. The owner let me unload behind the station and helped me with trail info and while I was there they called the local ATV club pres. and asked if there was a legal connection between the bridge and the Shell station and he said no but there may be in the future. I’ll bet the locals can hook them up.
So 28 mile run from Newport to Lowe’s bridge then a 4 mile gap then a 35 mile ride, from the Shell station to the center of Greenville. From there you can go lots of places in northern Me. On the way to Gville I passed a sign in Shirley saying the Forks 20 miles. After 5 days of messing around in Maine I was getting beat and looking at a 4.5 hour drive home so I didn’t head over to the forks. Put 80 miles on Tues.
In Greenville I rode down the middle of the road with the cars to get to gas and food. Shopped at the sports store across from the Mt.Katahdin cruse ship. You can’t ride all the streets in Greenville but enough to get to gas and food.
Banky if you head to Guilford and the end of the trail you should try the little family restaurant on Rt. 15 near the Shell station. Food was great. It’s across from the mill and you can drive to it on the quads.
THE END

BMQ I wish you could have made it too. Riding alone is OK but, better with friends
