Threats
Around the Country
Opposition
to our sport is not always easy to identify, and threats to our sport are too
numerous to list. But just to name a few, in NHOHVA's opinion the most prevalent
threat to our sport right now across the country is excessive noise. And it is a
threat that we can all do something to help fight. Some state legislators are
considering laws requiring compulsory training for all OHV users. And federally,
in an effort to control new vehicle design and performance, some regulations are
being considered that could place an unrealistic burden on motorcylce importers.
And further pressure to increase ethyl alchohol levels in fuels continues to
threaten OHV engines. Also on the federal level is new EPA regulations that
effect our ability to modify our bikes and Congressional land designations that
effect OHV access.
Don't
let this trend come to New Hampshire! Your help is needed now more than ever!
Join NHOHVA and donate today! Don't let your right to ride pass you
by!

On the NHOHVA Docket
|
NHOHVA is fighting for your right to ride! NHOHVA
is keeping a vigilant eye out for any potential threats to our sport here in New
hampshire and around the country. Our work is never done and we will never
rest! These are some of the issues NHOHVA is currently working on and where we
stand with each issue.
Remember
NHOHVA is here working for you and your right to enjoy our sport. Here is the
procedural posture of a few of the items on our docket:
- HB1332 - relative to the
law enforcement authority of fish and game officers
- 2/22/2012 - with a vote of
181 to 165 this bill ought to pass
- HB1337 - relative to the
enforcement of violations of fish and game laws and establishing a committee to
study the disposition of wildlife confiscated by the fish and game department
- 2/22/2012 - this bill has
been deemed inexpedient to legislate and put on hold
- HB1442 - relative to
motorcycle noise emissions regulation
- 2/22/2012 - after some
amendments this bill was voted 261 - 80 and ought to pass
- NH1540 - relative to
conservation easements on public land
- 2/15/2012 - this bill has
been put on hold
- SB0250 - relative to
operation of trail bikes and ATV's on state lands
- 2/21/2012 - this issue has
been reconvened for a later date
- SB0366-FN - relative to
use of certain OHRV's on snowmobile trails and relative to authorization for
snowmobiles and OHRVs registered in Vermont and Maine to operate in this state
- 2/15/2012 - the most
recent amendments to this bill are being considered and will be discussed at
upcoming hearings on March 21 in Concord and March 22 in Lancaster
- A public discussion on the
amendments to this bill will also be discussed on March 27 in Concord, NH
- NHOHVA supports this bill
as originally proposed but we do not support the recent amendments made to allow
ME and VT riders to ride NH trails without registration in NH without a
reciprocal agreement from those states. It is NHOHVA's position that
out-of-state riders with out-of-state off-road registrations should not be
allowed to ride NH trails without a reciprocity agreement from that state.
Currently ME and VT do not allow wheeled OHVs on their state trails with a NH
off-road registration only - a second registration is required for those states.
NH should not allow free access to our trails until those states allow us free
access to their trails - it is only fair.
